If you're looking for debt consolidation help, your finances are probably out of control and you don't know what to do about it.
You don't want to consolidate because that sounds like you're just moving the debt around, not actually getting rid of it. You can't make ends meet, though, and if you don't do something pretty soon, you're going to wind up in serious financial trouble.

What you need, my friend, is some real help.
You need an A-team of financial advisors who can show you what you can't see for yourself. You may not be able to get out of this fix without help.
You probably aren't an accountant and you've probably never learned the skills for sound personal financial management. If you don't know who to go to for debt consolidation help, however, you can easily fall prey to a scam.
There are plenty of "debt-beats" out there waiting for an innocent consumer like you to fall into their hands. When you do, they'll rip you to shreds, take your money, ruin your credit and leave you worse off than you were before.
So, where do you find good quality debt consolidation help? Where do you get this A-team of advisors? You begin by identifying your resources. Here are a few places to start looking:
- Friends and family. Who do you know who is good with money? Maybe you have a friend who is a CPA, or a brother who has handled his money well. It's time to humble yourself and ask for help and advice.
- Your bank. Your bank may be able to give you a lot of advice, even if they won't give you a loan. Most banks have lots of financial advice on their websites, and a banker is usually willing to sit with you and help you work through your financial issues.
- Your community. Are there financial management classes in your area? Is there a non-profit consumer credit counseling agency? Are there churches who offer financial counseling?
- Information resources. The library and internet have tons of financial information, and can put you in touch with people who can help.
Here's where not to look for debt consolidation help: Any yellow pages, television or internet ad that has the words debt consolidation in it. Yes, you'll probably miss a few good resources that way. However, you'll also miss a whole lot of people who just want to sell you more credit and quite a few out-and-out scams.
