Pushing to the Front, is one of the best motivational books of all time.
It is not weighed down by “nice theories” or “hopeful endings. Rather, it is stocked full of countless real life examples of people overcoming tremendous odds, pushing on to achieve success despite their difficulties.
What this 800+ page book does is inspire the reader to reach higher; to strive harder and to truly work for the things he or she wants to achieve in life.
So you may be asking yourself, “Why do I need a book to motivate me? I can motivate myself!” We all like to think we don’t need outside encouragement, but the fact is, we often do.
Simply knowing what we should do is not always enough to ensure complete follow-through. We have to WANT to do it.
That’s where outside help - motivation, encouragement, inspiration, cheerleading, whatever you want to call it - that’s where it can make all the difference in the world.
Just ask the millions of people who have read Pushing to the Front since Orison Swett Marden first published it in 1894. In his lifetime, he got thousands of letters thanking him for his words. Many people credited the book with savings their lives.
Marden died in 1924, but his greatest work, PTTF, has continued to be reprinted, and its effects on people’s lives are just as dramatic as when it was originally published.
Marden truly understood the complexities and pressures of society and was forward-thinking. Despite writing in the late 19th century, he predicted the 20th century would be “the century of the woman.”
In addition, he recognized the contributions of black Americans such as Frederick Douglass - at a time when segregation and racism were still the norm.
Pushing to the Front, has nuggets of wisdom such as: "Show me a really great triumph that is not the reward of persistence. Genius, when you look more closely at it, usually turns out to be the sum of uncommon dedication to a task."
Thomas Edison expressed the same idea this way: “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”
Many people want to be told that there’s a shortcut to becoming wealthy and successful. But deep down, we know that’s not true.
We know that success takes hard work. This classic, century-old book - acknowledges that fact and then provides the inspiration and encouragement we need to begin moving forward.
For stoking the motivational fires, nothing is better than the century-old classic, Pushing to the Front.
