Whether there are children involved or not, more men are taking the initiative to trade places with their wives and work from home.
There are many jobs that a man – or woman for that matter – can take on when it comes to work at home jobs, but one that tends to be very popular is that of becoming a publicist.
A publicist works to get press coverage for his or her client, and it is this person who is most often the middleman (or woman) between a high profile personality and members of the media.
A publicist not only makes life more convenient for their client but they also help them to maintain a better reputation and higher profile at the same time. For example, a publicist might work for an actor, a politician, or a celebrity writer, ensuring that members of the media have access to information about the client without providing an overwhelming amount of personal access to that client.
A work at home dad who is a publicist schedules interviews, writes press releases, and performs damage control, when necessary, in an attempt to counteract any undesirable press coverage that the client may have received. As a publicist, celebrity client aren’t necessarily required. In fact, there are a lot of non-celebrity types around the world who require a good publicist.
One great way to market your business is to create a website that advertises your services. Include an “About Me” page that tells the world who you are and why you are qualified to be a publicist.
You may also want to include some content-based articles about how publicists can help people in all walks of life. Building a website is fairly inexpensive, and if you can get others in your industry to provide links to your site, you may see more traffic than you initially expected.
If you want to become a work at home dad who is a publicist, there is no required education. However, the more personal and professional experience you have, the better off you are going to be in general to best service your clients.
The most appropriate bachelor’s degree for a publicist to hold is one in communications or public relations. You need to be able to properly and openly communicate with a variety of people in a day. No matter what the method, you need to be eloquent and comfortable with all forms of communication.
You also need to be quick on your toes. Moving fast is essential in some situations. Confidence is very important as well. As long as you hold at least some of these qualities, you have a good chance of making a good living as a publicist.
You will, however, want to be aware that in comparison to other work at home jobs, the publicist position is one that will definitely take up a lot more of your time.
It’s easy to find a job as a work at home dad. You just need to have the drive and determination to find the right fit, based on your time available, and doing something that truly fuels your passion.
